PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING

  • Reviewing remediation plans, evaluating progress and providing recommendations for future work.
  • Developing policies for baseline water-well testing.
  • Conducting background research, discussing options with regulators, and preparing policy guidance documents.
  • Providing technical input during project planning, supervision of project managers and field staff, coordination of resources, budgeting and cost tracking, and communication with clients.
  • Managing major environmental investigations and remediation projects.
  • Developing environmental ranking systems to prioritize large groups of contaminated sites for assessment and remediation.

REMEDIATION PROJECTS

  • Designing and constructing onsite biopiles for treatment of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil at oil and gas facilities.
  • Managing the removal and treatment of source material from flare pits and condensate spills using a mobile thermal desorption unit.
  • Responding to and providing remediation direction for several oilfield spills including crude oil, condensate, and produced water.
  • Managing the operation of dual-phase vacuum extraction systems at contaminated sites.

PUBLIC CONSULTATION

  • Regular communication with landowners who lease portions of their land to oil and gas companies for development. Communication involves explaining the rationale for technical environmental projects, advising landowners of spills and health concerns, responding to complaints regarding noise, odour, and groundwater quality, and general communication regarding development.
  • Development of a variety of multi-media presentation materials for communication with stakeholders, regulators and clients.

GREENHOUSE GAS SECTOR

  • Developing Quantification Protocols for various greenhouse gas offset project types in the agricultural, forestry and renewable energy sectors.
  • Participating in the development of Guidance Documents to explain the implementation of greenhouse gas policies and regulations.
  • Developing simulation profiles for agricultural greenhouse gas offset projects in order to teach the agricultural sector about possible carbon offsets, and the process by which to trade them.
  • Preparing Offset Project Plans and Quantification Protocols for a variety of potential greenhouse gas offset projects.
  • Providing ongoing support for clients to assist with development of greenhouse gas offset projects, quantification of offsets, implementation of greenhouse gas reduction mechanisms, and management of compliance obligations.
  • Completing calculations of greenhouse gas emissions and reporting under CEPA Section 71.

COMPLIANCE, AUDITING AND LIABILITY MANAGEMENT

  • Completing site-specific and field-specific liability assessments.
  • Designing and implementing the field work component of a site-specific liability assessments in compliance with the Large Facility Liability Management Program.
  • Managing compliance obligations including soil and groundwater monitoring and reporting, management of Directive 039 compliance requirements, NPRI reporting, and CAPP stewardship reporting.

PHASE I AND II ASSESSMENTS

  • Conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Assessments at upstream oil and gas wellsites and facilities, pipeline spill sites, booster stations, service stations, bulk fertilizer storage facilities, and truck transfer sites. Sources of contamination include flare pits, wellheads, underground and aboveground storage tanks and pipelines, compressors and other processing equipment.
